Personal Overview Page

After logging into your GS Scholars profile, you will be redirected to the Personal Overview page. You can access this page by clicking on the Personal tab at the top of the screen. The Personal Overview page provides a summary of your information in GS Scholars. You can add new content here as well as update what information is displayed on the GS Scholars portal. This page is visible only to yourself and select GS Scholars administrators, such as members of the GS Commons Team, your Associate Dean of Research (ADR), and some Office of Research personnel (see more about who can edit your profile in the FAQ).

The main components of the Personal Overview page are summarized below:

Personal Overview page with callouts

  1. Personal Tab: allows you to return to the Personal Overview page from any other page when you are logged into GS Scholars. Also, access your profile content by clicking on the down arrow.

  2. Edit Profile: allows you to view and update information about yourself. Some information such as your name and department will be added for you by GS Scholars administrators. We encourage you to add a photo of yourself, a description of your research interests, and a link to your ORCID page and other online profiles. For more about editing your personal profile record, see the Personal Information page.

  3. My Public Profile: allows you to navigate to your public-facing profile on the GS Scholars portal.

  4. H-Index: provides the h-index for your publications from Scopus (see more about the h-index in the FAQ).

  5. Summary of PlumX Metrics: provides a summary of PlumX data for your publications. Please note: PlumX metrics are currently limited to what is indexed in PlumX. As more content is indexed by Plum, coverage will increase. PlumX processes updates to most metrics on a weekly basis. Therefore, if you log in more than once in a week, you will not see changes until you log in the following week (see more about PlumX Metrics).

  6. Content Overview: provides a summary of the different types of content added to your profile. To view or update your content, click on the name of the content type, or access your content by clicking on the down arrow next to the Personal tab near the top right of the screen (#1). You will be redirected to a list of all content associated with your profile with that content type.

Projects and Grants

Your projects and grants information is displayed in a timeline graph below the Content Overview. Use the Select time range dropdown to filter your projects in the timeline. Click on any of the headers or the project title to view more details. For more information about adding research projects and grants, see the Managing Content page.

Research Network

Your research network information is displayed in an interactive graph below your projects and grants. This is a research relation and collaboration network map showing the relationships between yourself, your research outputs, projects, co-authors, and other content. You can explore your network further by filtering which content to display and switching between specific content and co-authors. The summary of your top collaborators and your most frequent affiliations is included. Clicking on these will present you with a list of associated content.

Tasks and Notifications

On the right side of the screen, you may see Tasks and Notifications. The tasks and notifications that appear here will depend on your profile and administrator rights in GS Scholars. For example, under Tasks, you may be notified of any new publications awaiting import from online sources.

Under Notifications, you will see messages where updates have been made or comments added to your content by members of the GS Commons Team, your Associate Dean of Research (ADR), or Office of Research personnel. (see more about who can edit your profile in the FAQ).
