GS Scholars replaces the Libraries' legacy SelectedWorks profiles, which were sunset on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024. After this date, Georgia Southern’s SelectedWorks platform, profiles, and content are no longer accessible. The GS Libraries have migrated all SelectedWorks profiles and content to GS Scholars.
After 20 years, Elsevier made the strategic decision to sunset the legacy SelectedWorks platform.
GS Scholars is different from SelectedWorks in at least three important ways. First, while SelectedWorks provided faculty with an all-inclusive digital CV, GS Scholars focuses more narrowly on scholarly and creative activities. Second, while SelectedWorks had very loose standards for records and metadata, GS Scholars is more structured. Third, while data entry in SelectedWorks was very manual, GS Scholars is more automated. These differences mean that some information included in your SelectedWorks profile may no longer be suitable in GS Scholars. You may find that many SelectedWorks records need to be revised before they can be displayed in GS Scholars.
To facilitate your transition to GS Scholars, the Libraries have hidden many of your imported SelectedWorks records so that you can 1) decide whether you want to keep them in GS Scholars and 2) revise them before displaying them in your profile. We understand that updating your profile will require time and effort, especially if your SelectedWorks profile included teaching and service information that no longer aligns with GS Scholars' emphasis on scholarly and creative activities.
You now have access to a new GS Scholars profile. If you haven't done so already, see the Libraries' Getting Started Guide for help logging in and updating your profile.
Please note: Elsevier does not support redirects from SelectedWorks to Pure, either for profiles or scholarly outputs. As such, you will need to update or remove any legacy SelectedWorks URLs appearing on CVs, syllabuses, personal websites, other profiles, or wherever they appear.
With the addition of profiles for all tenure-track faculty to GS Scholars, the GS Commons Team no longer offers "turnkey" profile management. Instead, our team is focused on providing training, consultation, and troubleshooting support to all faculty. We encourage you to contact the GS Commons Team at digitalcommons@georgiasouthern.edu for help updating your profile.
