Fashion Seasons

Fashion Seasons

A fashion collection may take 18 months to complete from start to finish (selecting yarns/fabrics, cutting/sewing, etc.) so predicting future product trends (such as patterns, colors, fabrics, silhouettes, styles, etc.) is very important. Thus, fashion lines take time to developed and are finally shown several months (around 6 months) in advance to a season.

Spring- Collection shows are in September/October

Spring/Summer (SS)- Collection Shows are in January

Fall, Fall/Winter (FW), or Autumn/Winter (AW)- Collections are shown in February

Resort (Cruise)- Collections shown in June, July, August

Holiday- Collections shown in July/August

These seasons are starting to become more and more irrelevant with climate shifts and buying directly from the runways becoming more common. To learn more, read this article on fashion seasons.
