In 2003, ACRL (the Association of College and Research Libraries) defined scholarly communication as:
"the system through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future use. The system includes both formal means of communication, such as publication in peer-reviewed journals, and informal channels, such as electronic listservs." Scholarly communication is frequently defined or depicted as a lifecycle documenting the steps involved in the creation, publication, dissemination and discovery of a piece of scholarly research.
The GS University Libraries offer a full array of resources and services to support faculty and graduate students' scholarly work from conception to publication and promotion. In addition to the University's digital repository and scholarly profiles for faculty, our scholarly communications team of specialists can assist you with data management planning and curation, copyright and reuse licensing, promoting and monitoring use of your work, and building your professional identity.
