My Involvment

My Involvment

What I Did:

I helped create this kiosk representation by creating a data spread sheet of all the information of every phone. I used the National American Museum website to help me find most of the information on the phones including the maker, ID numbers, where they were exhibited, and much more.

I also designed and made the kiosk page that is found on our website. I wanted to make this most appealing to the viewers, so i added colors and clip art symbols. I also added instructions on the side so that people using the kiosk would know how it works. I also explained what the kiosk was for so that everyone using it could get the most out of their experience.

What We Did

What We Did:

For this second project we originally had the idea of creating a 3D model walkthrough of our museum exhibit. After many hours, we realized that the 3D visualization walk through was not something that we were going to be abe to pull off with the short amount of time that we had  to complete this project.

We ended up just making a story map of the different phones that we had put on our timeline in the last project. Eachh phone is represented on the map by a colorful dot. When the viewer clicks on the dot, a text box pops up with all the information about that phone. We made this so that we could have a visual representation of the information about past/future phones.

We then went on to create a tab on our website that would be a prototype of the kiosk that we would have in our exhibit. We included a title, instructions, and what the kiosk was for. We also included a project summary tab as well.

Project 2

Reflection:

Project 2 was defiantly more difficult that project 1. It was harder to split up the workload because not every task was the same amount of workload as the other ones. It was also more difficult because for a while we didn't split up the phones so we didn't know who was finding information for what phone. It would have been easier if we had more time in class to work on it, because not everyone was able to meet up together when everyone else could. Overall, I like how our project turned out and I think we did a good job presenting the information.

This relates to digital humanities because we had a whole lesson on story maps. The fact that we had already learned about story maps in class made it easier to apply the techniques to our own project. Also, we knew how to use LibApps because we had used them for our blogs already.
