KEYS to Teaching Success: Standard 10: Communication

Introduction

The 10th standard of the Georgia Intern KEYS Effectiveness System focuses on communication:

The teacher candidate communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.

Education relies on effective written, spoken, graphic and other forms of nonverbal communication. You will demonstrate those skills during instruction, during assessment, during personal consultations, during planning and during professional development. Therefore, even though communication is the last standard listed, it's one of the first standards taught in teacher preparation programs. This category of KEYS to Teaching Success includes several lessons to help you enhance your teacher communications skills.
