KEYS to Teaching Success: Standard 9: Professionalism

Introduction

The ninth standard of the Intern KEYS rubric focuses on professionalism, a behavior that is difficult to define because of its broad scope. Professionalism is evident in a teacher's punctuality, dependability, organization, appearance, maturity and communication. Professionalism is also evident in teachers' active, consistent efforts to reflect on their work, assess their effectiveness and attempt to improve their practices--even when their practices are already effective.

For these reasons, even though professionalism appears near the end of the list of teacher effectiveness standards, it is one of the first standards taught and assessed. In this category of KEYS to Teaching Success, you'll explore several lessons that exemplify several common ways to demonstrate a teacher's professionalism.
