Student Learning Assessment Resources

In this video from the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA), faculty share how they have used assessment data to make meaningful improvements to their courses or programs. These specific examples show how data can illuminate areas for intervention to help students achieve learning outcomes more successfully. Do you have any similar stories from your own assessment?

Action Plans Overview

Action plans allow us to put what we have learned from assessment data into action to make meaningful improvements to student learning. Action plans at Georgia Southern consist of two components:

  • Impact of past improvements and changes -- Also known as "closing the loop," this section looks at previously proposed action items and compares current assessment data to see if changes and interventions were successful in making improvements.
  • Use of results for future improvement -- This is where current assessment results are used to strategically plan for next steps to improve student achevement.

More detailed information on these topics including additional resources are shared in this section of the guide.
