About Mamie Veazey

Mamie Veazey began her career at Georgia Southern College in 1929. After graduating from Lafayette College in Alabama, She spent her time at GSC  where she became the very first Dean of Women in its history. Veazey frequently assisted with women's clubs around campus and acted as a role model to many young students. After 23 years of service, she retired and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where she passed away in 1955.

About Veazey Hall

Constructed in 1961 Veazey Hall was originally a dorm for senior female students at Georgia Southern College. What used to house roughly 640 students is now the home of the College of Graduate Studies, Department of Communication Arts, Office of Research Services, and Office of Strategic Research and Analysis.
