Currently, the University Libraries is hiring for the following faculty positions.
Reporting to the Head of the Collection Services Department, the Acquisitions Librarian oversees the acquisitions of all educational resources for the University Libraries. Responsibilities include maintaining subscriptions to databases, e-journals, e-journal packages, and other library-related platforms, licensing eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming films, and overseeing the purchase of print monographs, and other media. This position also supervises one Collection Services staff member on the Henderson Campus and is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Head of Information Studies, the Information Studies and Patent and Trademark Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the Patent, Trademark, and Resource Center (PTRC) at Georgia Southern Libraries. The PTRC at Georgia Southern University Libraries is one of only two such centers in the state, serving the south Georgia region. Patent and trademark seekers in the region may consult the PTRC to research existing patents and trademarks or learn more about the patent and trademark application process.The librarian in this position consults with students, staff, faculty, and community members in person and online to direct users to related information and explain a patent or trademark application process, demonstrates how to use research tools to conduct a patent or trademark search, and provides instruction on intellectual property and related subjects.
Reporting to the Head of Information Studies, the Information Studies Librarian plans, teaches, and assesses information literacy classes both in-person and online, teaches credit-bearing courses in the Information Studies Department, such as INFO 2530 Metaliteracy, or other courses as assigned; liaises to various departments as assigned; participates in evaluation of the instruction program and outcome assessment of instruction sessions; provides quality reference services to library patrons via in person and/or virtual reference service, including research consultations; participates in collection development for general collection materials and assigned liaison subject areas; and demonstrates the ability to conduct scholarship, teaching and service as part of tenure-track responsibilities.
The position is a 12 month tenure-track appointment.
