Southern Literary Festival
The purpose of the Southern Literary Festival Association is:
1. to discover and to develop literary talents and interest among students in the colleges and universities of this Association;
2. to formulate plans whereby literary achievements may be induced and recognized and to award prizes to students;
3. to devise plans for instituting and conducting annual contests in the colleges and universities of this Association; and
4. to arrange an annual session in which addresses and discussions by eminent authors may be heard and open forums of literary ideas and methods may be conducted.
South Atlantic Modern Language Association: Undergraduate Student Essay Award
Each year, SAMLA accepts nominations of outstanding undergraduate student presentations given at the previous year's conference.
Norton Writer
The Norton Writer’s Prize recognizes outstanding original nonfiction by undergraduates. The contest is open to students age 17 and above who are enrolled in an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university during the 2022–2023 academic year.
Georgia Southern Department of Writing and Linguistics
Offered by the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, the AWP Intro Journals Project is a literary competition for the discovery and publication of the best new works by students currently enrolled in AWP member programs. The annual competition is open to any student who is majoring in Writing and Linguistics

Alliance Theatre
The Alliance Theatre is Atlanta’s national theater, expanding hearts and minds onstage and off. Founded in 1968, the Alliance Theatre is the leading producing theater in the Southeast, reaching more than 165,000 patrons annually. The Alliance delivers powerful programming that challenges adult and youth audiences to think critically and care deeply. The Alliance Theatre is a recipient of the Regional Theatre Tony Award® in recognition of sustained excellence in programming, education and community engagement.
Savannah Stage Company (STC)
STC exists to serve the southern coastal region with accessible professional theatre that encourages growth through imagination and bravery
National Theater Institute
Admission to the National Theater Institute is competitive; applicants are encouraged to apply well in advance of the deadlines. Early applications may receive early acceptance. NTI welcomes applications from gap-year students, undergraduate students, post-graduates, and professionals looking for a broad-based theatrical training intensive.
Music
Georgia Music Educators Association
GMEA sponsors and carries out an annual composition competition for the purpose of encouraging students who have an interest in and an aptitude for the writing of original music. The entries in this event must be submitted by the student’s music teacher who must hold current GMEA/NAfME membership.
