Mark Stein:
The Dust of John Wilkes Booth
In college years ago, I took a course in Comedy in which there was considerable discussion of Dark Comedy, Tragi-Comedy, Dramedy, and Farce. I came away thinking that genres were expectations that enable writers to vandalize them. More legally recognized today as hybrid works, this piece is composed of fact-based monologues, lyricized excerpts from primary sources, and first-person poetry.
