This exhibit is an archive of African American history in Burke County, Georgia from 1800 to 1865. It serves as a space where the experiences and voices of numerous African Americans from the county are easily accessible.
Though it is far from comprehensive, I hope this collection serves as a place from which future research on African Americans in antebellum and Civil War-era middle Georgia can jumpstart.
