Games and Gaming at the Learning Commons

Collection Libguide for Board Games offered at the Learning Commons

What are Board Games?

A board game is a tabletop game that is typically played on some sort of mat or surface called the "board" with pieces, cards, and any number of other components. There are many varieties of board games ranging from classics like Monopoly and Scrabble, to more contemporary games like Ticket to Ride and Catan.

Games in our collection can be competitive, in which players are pitted against each other to see who can win, while others are cooperative, encouraging good communication and teamwork between players while establishing bonds of friendship. Games of all kinds strengthen problem solving and strategic thinking skills, and support student success through engagement and fostering a sense of belonging. No matter which game you choose to check out at the LC, there's always something to learn from our collection!
