How to search within a Journal

When you click on one of the journal links in the box above labeled "Recommended Journals," it will take you to a page in GIL Find. We will use the Journal of Popular Culture as an example.

To find full text articles in these journals, scroll to the "View Online" section of the page. The links in blue will show you in which databases you can access the journal. Each option also lists how much of the journal we have in each database (examples are highlighted in yellow): a database may carry the journal from a certain date range, from a point in the past to the current day, or may operate on a delay (for example, EBSCOhost Ethnic Diversity Source carries the journal from 1990 up until one year ago at any given time; they will have all issues of the journal in full text except those from the last year).

Click on a database link to access full text issues of the journal. Depending on the database, you may be able to browse issues only (Wiley Online Library, as an example), and/or search within the publication (ProQuest and EBSCOhost as examples).

If you decide to search within a journal title, DO NOT remove the text that auto-fills in the basic search. Instead, click "advanced search" and use additional boxes/fields to add terms to your search. For more information about building search strings, check this page
