Code of Student Conduct chapter 12 on Academic Dishonesty defines plagiarism

Plagiarism is the offering of the words, ideas, computer data programs, or graphics of others as one’s
own in any academic exercise. Examples of plagiarism include (but are not limited to):

a. The offering of another's work, whether verbatim or paraphrased, as original material without
identifying the source(s) in an academic paper, discussion post, exam, assignment or any other
academic work.

b. Directly quoting the words of others without using quotation marks or indented format to identify
them.

c. Self-plagiarism: re-submitting work previously submitted without appropriate or accurate citation or
credit and/or without explicit approval from the instructor.
d. Use of materials prepared by another person or agency to assist in the completion of coursework.
This may include but is not limited to the selling of term papers or other academic materials, as
well as the using of online platforms or websites to post/receive answers to coursework/exams.
e. Demonstrating any other forms of dishonest behavior.

Students found responsible for Academic Dishonesty code violations face a range of sanctions from reduction in grade for the assignment or the course, a common sanction for plagiarism, to more serious sanctions such as a disciplinary warning, probation, suspension and, rarely, expulsion from the University.
