Welcome to the mystical land of Faerun. More specifically you find yourself at the grand Candlekeep Library. After contributing a tome of worthwhile knowledge, you will be granted access to the largest library in all of 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Within, you will have access to an innumerable amount of books, scrolls, and other bastions of information. This is a place of learning, but much like the rest of Faerun, adventure is never far. During your stay here, a scholar will be assigned as your guide and they will point you in the direction of something that is worthy of investigation (usually a recent addition to the library shrouded in mystery). This investigation leads to a one shot adventure in D&D that can take you nearly anywhere in Faerun and beyond.
Week to week, Georgia Southern students will have the opportunity to sign up to participate in these one shots. Your dungeon master will be prepared to assist players of all backgrounds and levels of experience. Never played D&D? No problem. Been playing since childhood? Come and join us. These one shots come from the D&D sourcebook, "Candlekeep Mysteries," and vary in length and difficulty. Upon sign up, you will inform your DM of your level of experience, and they will choose a random one shot adventure based on party chemistry and levels of experience so everything is balanced.
Your DM has also provided links to basic game rules, blank character sheets for the adventurous, and instructions on how to build your very own D&D character. The game rules are linked to D&D Beyond, the official website for D&D. On this site, you can also make a free account to create your character through the D&D Beyond character creator. This process is ideal for beginners as it provides step-by-step instructions throughout the process. The primary drawback is that not all character options are made available for free.
Gaming materials will be made available for those who do not have their own. We have the dice and pencils. All that's expected of you is for you to print your character sheet (either premade or of your own creation), a can do attitude, and some knowledge to deposit to the Avowed of Candlekeep to grant you access.
