When the Library is closed, or you prefer to work remotely, there are many ways the Libraries can provide you with expert help and services. We also can offer special accommodations for book renewal and returns to extend due dates under special circumstances.

Last-minute citation question? Want help with research? Need to reach us from off-campus? Ask us! You can email us, or chat with a librarian virtually from the convenience of your home!
Research librarians with expertise in specific areas are available for remote consultations by email or online.

Georgia Southern Librarians has plenty of tools for you if you can’t make it to campus to pick up physical items.

Requesting Library Materials
Faculty/ Staff/ Students may place a request for library materials using GIL Find. We will mail all physical materials to your home address from March 13, 2020 until the university opens for face-to-face instruction.
Faculty/ Staff/ Students may place a request for USG library materials using GIL Express based on availability. We will mail all physical materials to your home address from March 13, 2020 until the university opens for face-to-face instruction. When you make your library request please enter your home address in the comments section.

The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) has designed resources to assist faculty in moving courses to an online format. Visit the CTE Webpage: Rapid Guide for Teaching Online - A Continuity Plan. Faculty will find a link to the folio course: Getting Started with Folio for Faculty. In the course, faculty can access and download the Rapid Guide for Teaching Online. For specific questions, submit a Teaching Services Request. The CTE strives to support faculty as they navigate this process of moving courses online.
Need help transitioning from print to online course readings? Please use the Course Reserves Form to make your request.
We subscribe to Kanopy and Films on Demand and these streaming services can be used to supplement your existing course materials. If you have a request for a title that is not in our collections, please fill out the appropriate form on Kanopy or please use our materials request form.
Access your Interlibrary Loan Account
We can electronically deliver journal articles from the Georgia Southern Libraries collection and from other libraries directly to you at no charge. This service is available for current Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff only until the University re-opens for face-to-face instruction.
Most libraries are offering extended renewals of books. If you are unable to return your ILL books by the due date, please submit a renewal request through your ILL account. Henderson Library patrons may contact their ILL department for email renewals at firstname.lastname@example.org. Lane Library patrons, please contact your library for guided instructions on renewals at email@example.com. ILL books and other physical materials may also be mailed back to the library through USPS. Upon request, ILL will mail all physical materials to your home address from March 13, 2020 until the university opens for face-to-face instruction. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to have this service set up for you.
Books and physical materials can be returned to any USG School. We recommend if you are returning to a USG School other than Georgia Southern, that you only return to schools and libraries that are open to patrons. If you would like to mail your books and materials, you may do so by downloading the USPS Library Return Label and mailing your items (well packaged) through USPS. Returning items by mail is free-of-charge for you using this return label.
All library equipment must be returned inside the building. Please do not put any equipment returns in the drop boxes or in the mail. Georgia Southern University Libraries will not be issuing any late or overdue fines from March 13, 2020 until the university re-opens for face-to-face instruction.
